Psychological Judo

Unless you do something about your vibrational countenance, nothing can change. Nothing long term will change, that’s certain… Haven’t you noticed that a new disease pops up, and humanity finds the cure, only to find another disease popping up? Don’t you think it’s interesting that you don’t get to the end of those diseases? The reason you don’t, is because you have not yet come to the end of pushing against things.

One of the core skills of judo is using your opponent’s momentum against them.  It’s a defensive technique – judo is an art of self defense, not aggression.  Using your opponent’s inertia, one technique is to throw them over your hip to the ground.  Even a child can handle a grown man, if they know the techniques.

The idea is a bit like using a cape to entice a bull into charging, only to step from behind the cape as he tears headlong through it.  Eventually, he tires out and loses his will to fight.  At the same time, the matador has expended very little energy.

Each of these activities relies on a person’s ability to avoid resistance.  A 120 lb woman would have no chance wrestling a 200 lb man.  She cannot successfully resist him for more than a moment or two.  She cannot hope to push against him.  Likewise, the bullfighter against the bull.

So it is with our own desires.  The more we resist; the more we push against; the more we struggle to achieve… the more difficult it becomes.  When we learn HOW to stop pushing, HOW to allow what we want to come into our lives, we begin to see it manifest.

So, Grasshopper…  It is time.  Wax on.  Wax off.
