Line up the Energy first.

Take the time to line up the Energy first, and action becomes inconsequential. If you don’t take the time to line up the Energy, if you don’t find the feeling place of what you’re looking for, not enough action in the world will make any difference.

This is the answer to that age-old question; “I’ve worked my ass off here for 15 years, skipped vacations, worked thru lunches, put in overtime without being paid for it, and this kid comes in here straight out of school and gets that new position handed to him without breaking a sweat.  Why?”

He had his Energy lined up.  You didn’t.

“…not enough action in the world will make any difference.”

That said, this is the most interesting bit to me: “…action becomes inconsequential.”  I don’t know any way to translate that, except to say that it is possible to manifest whatever we want simply with our thoughts.  Dream it up & it’s yours.

I’m already hard at play, imagining my life as a celebrity in pajamas.

There is only that which you are inspired to do.

There is not something you’re supposed to do. There’s not something that you should do. There is only that which you are inspired to do. And how do you get inspired except by the contrast? It’s the life experience that gives you the idea of the desire, and then as you focus upon the desire, the Energy flows.

The first time I read this, I had the urge to continue the journey of that last sentence.  What happens when the Energy flows?  Seems like a natural question, no?  So, I’m going to take a shot at answering it.

But first, for those of you who may be new to this, I think we need to define ‘contrast’ as Abraham uses it.  Contrast is conflict, pain, disappointment, discouragement, fear, etc.  Any emotion or experience that makes you feel bad, or makes you wish for something different could be classified as contrast.  My truck overheated in heavy traffic a couple of months ago (first time ever).  I had to pull over & sit for an hour while traffic got lighter & my engine cooled off.  That was an experience of contrast.

My synopsis of the quote above is this:  As we live our lives, we are going to experience… stuff.  Some stuff is going to be really good.  It’s going to put a smile on our faces and a spring in our step.  Other stuff is going to effect us, well… differently; negatively.

The reality here is that neither category of stuff has ANY inherent effect on us; it’s only the way we process the information that causes us to feel one way or the other about it.

One note of clarification: I’m talking about being effected psychologically.  If Skylab (look it up) had fallen on your head, how you processed the information would have little effect on your physical situation in that moment.

Abraham’s perspective is that our purpose here on the physical plane is to expand the physical universe by thought.  They often say that we are on the leading edge of thought.  Their perspective suggests that how we live our lives – the actions we take – should be guided by inspiration.  In the everyday world, of course, we have a million things to do that have more to do with responsibility than inspiration.

But!  Often, it’s those responsibility-based activities that bring us life experiences, and when we encounter contrast in the process, we come face-to-face with an opportunity for inspiration.  In conflict and struggle we find a desire for a better situation, a better way, a better result.  When we focus on that desire, rather than the contrast that spawned it, the universe begins to bring it to us.  This is the Energy flow.

When the Energy flows, opportunities come.  Doors open, as if by magic.  For most of us, however, our built-in resistant nature also brings us hurdles and tests (more contrast).  This does not have to be a bad thing.  It can help to keep the desire and focus strong.  But again, that depends on how we choose to process that contrast.

When the energy flows, we can find ourselves “in the zone.”  Things just seem to go right.  The world is a nicer place.  The sun shines brighter.  Colors and smells are more vibrant.  We catch nothing but green lights on the way to work.

When the energy flows, life is easier.  Inspiration comes naturally.  Even if it’s just inspiration to mow the lawn, the result will be better than if we did it out of a feeling of responsibility.

Resistance is resistance, regardless of its target.

If you could get to the place where you no longer feel a need to push against anything that you disagree with—you would become in alignment with what you do agree with. Even within your own body, it is your pushing against those things you don’t agree with that causes you to be out of alignment with what you do agree.

It’s almost like reading Dr. Seuss, isn’t it?  Or Alice in Wonderland.  This is one of those times when I read through something and just said, “What?…”  I had to go back to read it again.  And again.

Ever repeat a word, over and over again?  Eventually, it becomes easy to lose track of what the word means.  That’s kind of what happens for me when reading this quote.  So, assuming that you might be affected in the same way, here’s what Abraham is saying, in my own words…

Stop looking for things to be upset about.  Accept that there are simply going to be things that happen, and people who do them, that you will not agree with and that you will not be able to do anything about.  When you get to the point that you can allow the world’s contrast to roll off your back, like water off a duck’s, you will be manifesting the things in your life which you desire.

Resistance is resistance, regardless of its target.  Learn not to resist, and you will find yourself in alignment.
