What do you want in your experience?

When you say “Yes” to something, you include something you do want in your experience. When you say “No” to something, you include something you don’t want in your experience.

— Abraham

——

This is a good way of beginning an explanation of the core concept of the Law of Attraction.  The first part of the quote seems like it should be pretty obvious, even to someone new to the idea of LOA.  But, the second part is really the key.

When you say “No” to something, you include something you don’t want in your experience.”  This is another way of saying that the thoughts you hold in mind attract other thoughts of a similar nature.  Financial problems are something that most of us can relate to, so let’s use an example from that area.

When you’re in a financial hole, it’s extremely common for that problem to become the focus of much/most of your conscious thoughts throughout their day.  It hangs over your head like a dark cloud, making everything in your life seem gloomy.  And, the more you think about it, what happens?…  The more you think about it!  It’s a vicious cycle.  But, why does it work that way?

Abraham (and others) will tell you that the Universe does not know or care whether what you are consciously focusing on is real or not, in your best interest or not, possible or not.  The Universe simply sees your thoughts as an order to create, and it begins to deliver on that order.  Part of that process is to bring you more thoughts that are in harmony with those you are already thinking.

At that point, the race is on!  It’s up to YOU to change the situation, and the first step is to find a way – ANY WAY – to divert your mental energies to another subject.  You have to move other, more good-feeling thoughts to the front of your consciousness.  You have to displace the money woes with SOME other kind of mental imagery.

I’m not suggesting that you try to think about bunnies and cotton candy and skipping down the street in the rain, etc.  If you try to do that, you’ll only annoy yourself.  What you CAN do is distract yourself.  Top of the list: TURN OFF THE TV NEWS!  Read an engrossing book; watch a good movie; call a friend you haven’t talked to in a while & catch up (omit talking about your money issues).  Physical activities are wonderful distractors, as long as they require mental focus (to me, jogging and walking are too easily done on autopilot to do the job).

One of the worst things about money worries is that when they take hold, they color everything else in your life.  The good thing is that whatever the problem is, it’s normally not something that is going to change your life in the next 20 minutes; you have time to look for resolutions.  Use that time to turn your focus away from the doom & gloom, and start to look more in the direction of possibilities.  It may not be easy in the beginning, but you CAN do it, and it WILL make a difference in your life.

Understand that I’m not suggesting you ignore real financial problems (they won’t let you, anyway).  I’m simply advocating the idea that you CANNOT do yourself any good by wallowing in misery about your situation.  If you can bring your focus around to more pleasant things, your money issues won’t have so much power.  Also, even if the worst DOES happen, you won’t be as deeply affected by it if your perspective is one of hope and possibility.

Feel good.  Or don’t.  The choice is yours.

Your action has nothing to do with your abundance!

Your action has nothing to do with your abundance! Your abundance is a response to your vibration. Of course, your belief is part of your vibration. So if you believe that action is part of what brings your abundance, then you’ve got to unravel that.

— Abraham

Sometimes they just come in sync, don’t they?  This tidbit comes just a day after my post about their claim that action is inconsequential: http://whatsyourpath.com/?p=339.

It’s another example of Abraham saying that we can have the life we want simply by thinking about it.  In western society, this is practically heretical.  We’re taught from a young age that we have to:

  • Work hard to get ahead
  • Keep your nose to the grindstone
  • Knuckle down & work
  • Put your shoulder to the wheel
  • Etc.

Instead, here we have Abraham reminding us that the world we manifest around us is created via our thoughts.  Get your mind into the right state, and the abundance of the world WILL come knocking on your door.  The REAL work, of course, is precisely that internal alignment of our thoughts with our desires, and it’s not as easy as you might think…

You’ll have to excuse me now.  I have some unraveling to do.

You don’t have to take the bad with the good.

You don’t have to take the bad with the good. Why include the bad in the vibration? Only include the good in the vibration, and then only the good can come to you.

— Abraham

——

This is such a simple point.  What is it about our society that assumes there has to be a sour note in every concert?  Why won’t we buy into the possibility that something is just all good?  Why don’t we ever wake up in the morning with the certainty of mind that EVERYTHING that happens to us that day is going to be wonderful?  Why do we feel guilty when something feels good?

Just one more example of Abraham pointing out to us that we have a choice when it comes to the thoughts we think, and the world we manifest because of them.
